The 1988 Miami game first drew me toward Notre Dame. Living on campus taught me why people keep coming back: the shared songs, familiar walks, quiet stops, and small acts of welcome around the football itself.
Do not approach the traditions as a checklist. Let them help you understand the people and values that turned a game into a lifelong connection for generations of fans.
